Alicia is a Senior Research and Policy Analyst at LAANE working on the Education Campaign and RePowerLA Coalition. Born in Puebla, Mexico and raised in Los Angeles, she has deep LA movement and organizing roots that began with Chicanx and undocumented student groups in 2006. Before joining LAANE, Alicia worked at the Long Beach Immigrant Rights Coalition and Long Beach Residents Empowered where she led the Sanctuary LB coalition and deportation defense efforts, organized market-rate tenants, and advocated for the first Long Beach People’s Budget. She continues to fight for a just Los Angeles for working class and BIPOC communities with a racial, economic and transformative justice lens. She received her MA in Urban Planning at UCLA and her BA in History at CSU Long Beach.
