The Beth and Julia Meltzer Summer Internship Program

Throughout LAANE’s 30+ years as an organization, we have invested in the development of the next generation of labor justice activists and leaders. 

To honor two longtime LAANE supporters, we established the Beth and Julia Meltzer Internship Program in 2012. With the annual support of private donors, LAANE offers paid internship positions in roles varying from community and worker organizing to communications, development, and research. Additionally, interns learn firsthand how LAANE operates, take part in professional development sessions, and learn the history and importance of the labor movement in the fight for racial and economic justice. This transformative internship program helps jumpstart interns’ careers: many interns have gone on to work for other progressive organizations, government institutions, and unions. Some have even become LAANE staff members!

The 2026 Beth and Julia Meltzer Internship Program will take place from June 22 until August 14, and will be conducted in-person.
