Greg Good the Principal of Good Strategy. Prior to launching his own consulting practice, Greg served as Director of Strategic Engagement and Policy at the Los Angeles Housing Department (LAHD), where he coordinated the implementation of the groundbreaking United to House LA ballot measure, approved by voters in November 2022.
Prior to joining LAHD, Greg was Deputy Chief of Staff to Mayor Eric Garcetti. Greg also served in the administration as Director of Infrastructure, Executive Officer of City Services, and Chief of Legislative and External Affairs. During his time in the Mayor’s office, Greg worked with the City, County, and multiple stakeholders to help establish the Los Angeles Civil and Human Rights Department, City Plants, and an eviction defense pilot program. Greg also helped win passage of recycLA, LAANE’s comprehensive revisioning of Los Angeles’ commercial waste and recycling sector, and helped secure approval of a developer linkage fee, which is already helping to fund affordable housing in Los Angeles.
In 2020, Greg was appointed as the President of the Los Angeles Board of Public Works, where he managed the Department of Public Works. In that role, Greg helped to build out the City’s Climate Emergency Mobilization Office and launch a Workforce Equity Demonstration Project, in conjunction the Black Worker Center, SEIU 721 and County Federation of Labor, to bring more African American workers into Public Works jobs.
Before going to City Hall, Greg proudly served as a Campaign Director at LAANE, including leading the Don’t Waste LA campaign that eventually became recycLA. Greg lives in the Del Rey community of Los Angeles, with his wife, Alicia Hancock, a Deputy Attorney General for the State of California, and his fabulous daughter, Ruby Jean.
