Frank Gruber

Entertainment Lawyer/Activist/Author

Frank Gruber has practiced entertainment law for over 30 years. He’s also been an activist in Santa Monica since the early ’90s, including stints on the housing and planning commissions, and advocacy for living wages, worker rights, and housing. Frank’s activism led him to become a writer on issues relating to urbanism and the challenges of living in a “post-sprawl” and post-industrial region. Some of his writings have been collected in a book, Urban Worrier: Making Politics Personal, published in 2009. Along the way Frank produced a film based on Dostoevsky’s Notes from Underground and was for a long time a member of the board of the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble.

Originally from Philadelphia, Frank went to college at the University of Chicago and received his law degree from Harvard.
